Lack of Soul Winning

For the past several weeks, on Sunday mornings during our Connection Group (Sunday school) time, I have gone out to the street corner in front our our church to pass out invitations to our upcoming Friend Day.
South Charlotte Baptist Church is located on an extremely busy intersection in Pineville, NC. Even on Sundays, we will have thousands of cars pass by our corner.
Over the past several weeks I have had the opportunity to interact with Muslims, Hindus, Hispanics, Catholics, Presbyterians, Mormons, etc.
Recently, while doing that, a thought came to my mind to "explain" why more Christians don't seem to actively share the Gospel with others. It was simply this: Christians don't completely believe that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to eternal life. Somehow Christians have convinced themselves or become comfortable with the illusion that the Bible doesn't contain the ONLY way to eternal life.
Now, while that may seem like a crazy thought, I received some confirmation of my thought in a news article from the Washington Stand entitled, "Meat vs. Sugar: The Need for Healthy, Strong Churches amid Increased Attendance." (I would encourage you to read the article.)
Part of that article states:
The State of Theology study revealed alarming trends: 47% of evangelicals believe God accepts the worship of all religions, 53% assert that most people are inherently good despite sinning occasionally, and 49% of U.S. adults view Jesus as a great teacher but not God.
In other words, a vast majority of "Christians" no longer believe that Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to eternal life which reveals a lack of Biblical knowledge or a refusal to accept Biblical truth as Truth.
Christians need a full, consistent diet of God's Word!
Are you getting enough to eat? If you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, then you need a full and consistent diet of God's Word. You need to pick the Word of God up and fill your mind and heart with Its truths.
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” Colossians 3:16
You will never know what God's Word says unless you open up the pages of God's Word and take it in!
“But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.” Psalm 1:2
Do you delight in God's Word? If you have not consistently been in God's Word for yourself, I will tell you that it takes some time to "develop a taste" for God's Word. The longer and more consistent you are at taking God's Word into your mind and heart, the greater your delight - your love - for God's Word will become. So, please don't give up! Stay in God's Word until you have truly learned to delight in God's Word.
Christians need to fully trust God's Word!
As your delight for God's Word grows, you will be faced with this question: Am I going to fully trust - to the exclusion of all other things - God's Word?
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
Do you fully believe that? There really is no other way around it. Either God's Word is truth and Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to eternal life or He's not. If Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to eternal life than all other "ways" are false!
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
The Bible is very clear that salvation - eternal life - can only be found through Jesus Christ!
If God's Word is true - and I believe that it is - then we should take more seriously Christ's command:
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:19-20
So, today, take some Gospel tracts and give them out! Give out the Good News to someone today!
