O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; - Psalm 107:1-2

As I come to the end of another year I am daily reminded of how much thanks I owe to the Lord!

In spite of the challenges and difficulties of this past year, I must remember that the Lord is good! It's not just that He does good but that He is good! God cannot be anything other than good! And, because of that, I must "say so!" (Please understand that the following are just a few of the "things" that I am thankful for. This list is not exhaustive! In fact this list can never be exhausted because God's goodness can never be exhausted!)

I am thankful for grandchildren!

Yes, I am, and always will be thankful for my children (and their spouses) but Stephenie and I, in this past year, have become grandparents - twice!

I am very thankful for how the Lord brought Logan through the health struggles of a diaphragmatic hernia and how he has continued to grow and develop. He and his parents will be spending Thanksgiving with us in Colorado!

I love this picture of Logan!

I am thankful for my "little munchkin," Charlotte Kay, who has just arrived! She is so beautiful! It has been an absolute joy to spend time with her, to hold her, to kiss her, to talk to her, to sing to her.

It is the prayer of both Stephenie and I that Logan and Charlotte come to know the Lord at a young age!

I am thankful for the ministry!

This past June, Stephenie and I celebrated 25 years of ministry at South Charlotte Baptist Church! (Below is the SCBC bulletin from our first Sunday at SCBC, Sunday, June 4, 2000.)

As I look back on the past 25 years truly I can echo the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 1:12:

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; - 1 Timothy 1:12

Finally (at least for this "non-exhaustive" list)...

I am thankful for our staff!

We have never been as short-staffed and stretched thin as we have been this current year. Our entire staff has "stepped up to the plate" and has done a stellar job serving the Lord and holding up my hands in the ministry. This year has been a demonstration of the truth that we are "...labourers together..." (1 Cor. 3:9) and that we are "...striving together for the faith of the Gospel." (Phil. 1:27).

I trust that each and every one of you will take time this Thanksgiving to consider all that you have to be thankful for and how good God has been to you and your family!

About Me

The Lord has allowed my wife and I the opportunity to serve Him, at South Charlotte Baptist Church, since 2000! It's been quite the journey. The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows!
