2024 Resurrection Sunday
We had a wonderful day celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ!
The Lord led me to preach two "unorthodox" messages!
The message that I preached during the 9:00 AM Rejoice Service was from Romans chapters 4 and 5.
But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Romans 4:24-25
From there I focused on Paul's words in chapter 5 verse 2:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2
I emphasized this thought...
Rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
There are many things that we should not / cannot rejoice in. Instead, we should rejoice in - the hope of the glory of God - which will be revealed when we either 1) we are raptured out of this world or 2) when we pass through the door of death.
I sought to drive home that thought by stating:
This is a certain hope. It will happen!
"Unfortunately" this is a future hope meaning that we must, with patience, wait for it! I don't say "unfortunate" because it is a bad thing but simply to highlight the fact that most - if not all of us - are not naturally patient; we don't like to wait for things. We want to experience this hope NOW! Trust me, though, (or, better yet, trust the Lord) it will be worth the wait! As the song states,
"It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!"
After the Rejoice Service, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast along with some glorious fellowship with one another.
Then we worshipped the Lord together in our 11:00 AM service. We had a number of first time guests and return guests.
Again, a somewhat "unorthodox" message from Acts chapter 13.
And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre. But God raised him from the dead: Acts 13:29-30
We considered...
The Truth: Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.
The Basis of the Truth: God's Word
The Reason for the Truth: Sin
Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. Acts 13:38-39
And, because Truth demands a response...
The Response to the Truth: Many believed; others rejected the Truth even to the point of attacking the Truth!
If you weren't able to be in attendance, I would encourage you to listen to the message! While we did not have anyone publicly respond to the message, the Truth certainly was declared. We simply trust that God, in His time, will bring the fruit!
Until next time...
