And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked: (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;) 2 Peter 2:7-8
There is a certain amount of "vexation" that we can expect and that we will, as Christians, be subjected to simply because of the world in which we live. That is why it is so important that we continually filter what we see and what we hear through God's Word.
Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11
Are you, am I, hiding God's Word in our heart? Are we meditating upon God's Word?
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly bin all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16
