Therefore I Endure All Things

“Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” 2 Timothy 2:10

Paul endured all things, also, because there were still those who needed to hear the Gospel and be saved!

‌”For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
“And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
“But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:13–17
  • Last Sunday, a first-time guest came to our morning service because someone had placed a Gospel tract on his door.

  • Last Sunday, a teenage young man accepted Christ as his Savior after the morning service.

These examples highlight the words of this old gospel hymn:

We've a story to tell to the nations,
that shall turn their hearts to the right,
a story of truth and mercy,
a story of peace and light,
a story of peace and light.

If you read this past mid-week email you’ll remember the challenge to be:

  • A disciplined soldier

  • A determined athlete

  • A diligent farmer

Paul here, in 2 Timothy 2:10, answers the “Why?” He says, “Therefore, I endure all things…

Why do we need to be those things? Because there are individuals who have never heard the gospel message – the good news of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

  • This is why Soul Winning Saturdays are important.

  • This is why carrying tracts is so important. (And giving them out!)

  • This is why Neighborhood Bible Time is so important.

  • This is why faith promise missions giving is so important.

May God give us the grace to endure so that we might faithfully make known to our world the life-changing message of the gospel!

The Lord has allowed my wife and I the opportunity to serve Him, at South Charlotte Baptist Church, since 2000! It's been quite the journey. The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows!
